Every Tuesday, I try to participate in a twitter chat called, #ChicChat (What is #ChicChat?). It has been a great place to have a conversation with fellow bloggers and share tips on how to successfully run a blog.

Now, I can be on the other side of the conversation!!! I am super excited to be guest hosting #ChicChat (run by the lovely Chloe of PopCosmo) next Tuesday, June 16th, 2015 at 9:00EST on Twitter! We will be discussing the pros and woes of Instagram and is Snapchat the next big thing! If you have never participated in a twitter chat, feel free to join!! Use the hashtag #chicchat to find us!! Hope to chat with you soon!!

Last Wednesday, the lovely Kayte of Mass Musings held a food photography 101 class (for blogger and fellow Instagram lovers alike) at the Whole Foods in Charlestown (all proceeds of the event went to Whole Planet Foundation). I am not one to normally go to these things and especially right now when my blog is not quite a 24/7 entity yet (I still cannot get my time management down when it comes to my blogging commitment) but "Why not?"

*SIDE-NOTE: I have really sort of put my introvert "self" on the shelf lately in order to not just network but build some friendships in Boston <-more on this later :)

I am quite glad that I did, because it was a chance to be in a room with like minded people especially when it comes to all things Instagram and photography. Kayte shared with us the various photo apps that she uses when it comes to posting on Instagram and how she tags her photos in order to build followers. Then we had a chance to practice what we learned.

My picture below was posted on Instagram, so I apologize that it is a bit grainy here. We talked about the idea of a more symmetrical photo vs. a photo with movement, so with playing around of the fruits I created this set-up. I took the picture and then begun playing around with my Camera+ features. Everyone swears by VSCO, which is great but I was using Camera+ long before it came around so I am more comfortable with the features available.

Who knew what highlighting and playing around with contrast, shadows and sharpening can do for an image?

You can hear more about the class and all the fun we had here.

We were split up into groups where we had to create a food photo from items that were provided to us from Whole Foods. The group I was with won, and we were gifted with Mass Musings sticker and Whole Planet cookbook.

I put my learning to the test when I went out for some sushi (soooo good)!!!

Thank you Gentel over at Leopard and Grace for nominating me for the Liebster Award!!
And I am so excited to share it all with you!

I am NEW to the blogging world and this seems to be such a great way to introduce yourself to not only fellow bloggers but new followers.

The Rules

1. Thank and link back to the person who nominates you.
2. Answer the questions given by the person who nominates you.
3. Nominate 11 other bloggers with less than 200 followers* (I currently have 7 but will add more)
4. Create 11 new questions for the nominees to answer.
5. Let the nominees know they’ve been nominated!

The 11 questions Gentel has asked me to answer:

1. Why did you choose your blog name and what does it mean? I choose the name "First and Warren" because I started my blog at a time in my life where I was making new changes: new job, new city (sort of) and decided that it was a time for Firsts and Warren happened to be a street close by to where my new apartment was going to be located, therefore it seemed fitting to call my blog...First and Warren.

2. Describe your perfect day off. Now that I am in the city I love to go around and explore (now that it is Winter...I feel a bit limited but I make do). Being able to wake up early and make a hearty breakfast is always my favorite thing to do on my day just makes the day feel like it is going to be a good one. I love NETFLIX too, so if I can find a classic movie on there then you can find me on the couch.

3. What is your go-to karaoke song? (even if it’s just in your car!) FU by Miley Cyrus

4. What was the first concert you ever went to? Brandy

5. What was the last book you read? Wild by Cheryl Strayed

6. What is the best blogging advice you’ve been given? Just do what you love because at the end of the day it is your blog.

7. If you could go anywhere in the world, where would it be? Bali

8. What celebrity or famous person have you been told you look like? Gabrielle Union (I look nothing like her! Haha!)

9. What is your favorite workout? Spinning (I really want to try Soul Cycle, but I have tried FlyWheel and that was fun, but I usually just hit up a class at BSC)

10. Salty or sweet? Sweet

11. What is your favorite article of clothing and why? My black Jolt Ponte Skinny Pants from Nordstrom (25% of now - see here) because they are keeping me warm right now during this crazy winter, which also means I do not have to wear long johns underneath my pants on frigid days.

The 11 questions I’m asking my nominees:

1. What is one thing someone would be surprised to know about you?

2. Why did you get into blogging?

3. If you could own anything in your closet what would it be?

4. Song currently playing on your radio/iPod?

5. What is the best or worst date you have been on in your life?

6. Tumblr or Pinterest?

7. What is your favorite blog post that you have written in the last year?

8. Which celebrity do you religiously follow on Instagram or Twitter?

9. What fad have you tried and did not like?

10. What is your favorite dessert at the moment?

11. What is your favorite article of clothing as a child and why?

I apologize but this post is going to be a bit biased to iPhone users (using iOS 7 software)…

Open in Safari. Then scroll down to the bottom of the page where you see "View Web Version" and click it.

It should bring you to the desktop version of the website. Once you have done this click on the tab at the bottom in order to click on the middle icon (the one with the arrow).

Click "Add to Home Screen" in the menu that pops up.

It should look like this below…

Your Done!! The app should be added to you home screen!!
